Newburyport Documentary Film Series - Interview with Film Makers of "The Last Out"

THE LAST OUT

The film portrays three young Cuban baseball players who leave their families and risk exile to train in Central America to chase their dreams of playing in the Major Leagues.

This film is directed by Sami Khan --whose most recent film, the short documentary ST. LOUIS SUPERMAN (with Smriti Mundhra), was nominated for an Academy Award ® (and shown at our February Oscar-Nominated Shorts event) -- and Michael Gassert, whose documentary and archival works have been supported by the IFP, the Sundance Institute, UNESCO and the Kennedy Center.

Our own James Sullivan conducted one of the first interviews with filmmakers Sami Khan, Michael Gassert and film producer Jon Miller on behalf of the Newburyport Documentary Film Festival.
