Help Bring the Festival to Life

The Newburyport Film Festival relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of volunteers for a successful film festival season. If you are a film lover, a film professional, interested in learning more about what it takes to put on the festival, want to network within the entertainment industry, or just want to lend a hand, then we want you.

Here are some of positions available:

Core Crew  (before, during & after the festival). We are seeking year-round volunteers for our core crew that want to be more intricately involved with the production and execution of the festival with skill sets in writing, social media, videography, photography, film editing, etc.

Weekend Warrior (weekend of the festival). Our weekend volunteers do a little bit of everything, but specifically, they take tickets, greet guests, register filmmakers, sell merchandise, monitor screenings, set up after-parties, distribute promotional materials, work as drivers, work as runners, and much more! The festival couldn’t exist without them.  These volunteer positions are available in four-hour shifts over the course of the weekend.

Internship Position / Technical Help (before, during & after the festival). 

Do you know the difference between a power & HDMI cable and between a JPEG and MP4 file . Do you have a knack for a/v equipment?

Technically-gifted and creative volunteers needed to support the NBPT Docu Fest, that fun annual event held right here in Newburyport every September (this year Fri Sept 13-Sun Sep 15). Receive the joy of helping a creative, well-respected local event as well as the pleasure of working with a fun group of people!

Key tasks

  • Link film MP4 trailers from festival website
  • Download film stills, convert to compressed JPG for website
  • Cutting and combining individual film trailers to create festival promotion films
  • Convert MP4 files to Blue-Ray
  • Test Blue-Ray film submissions from film-makers
  • Build sponsor MP4 slide decks to play before the films screen

Work takes place as needed during the summer through the weekend of the festival. Not a paid position but bennies include: comp tickets to screenings, experience for your resume and our undying gratitude. Can be tailored as an internship if desired.

Experience with I-Movie (Mac) or Wondershare (PC) required. Experience with Adobe Premiere desirable.
